Welcome
to Tor-Mac Boxers.
We are located just outside the historic village
of Dansville, a small town, in western New York.
Our love for the breed began like
many others, flipping through the classifieds in search
for a boxer puppy. Our search led us to two. Jada, a
brindle bitch and Tyson, a white male. When we noticed
Tyson developing arthritis at a very early age we
realized how important health was to our breed.
Knowledge, buying from a reputable breeder and health
testing are all invaluable when purchasing the new
member of your family. With this in mind, we bought Torrie, a plain brindle girl, from Donna Day (Daybyday
Boxers) in Massachusetts, for the purpose of competing
in conformation. Shortly thereafter we purchased a
flashy brindle bitch, Macy, from Kerry Jones (Pheasant
Hollow Boxers) in New York. Donna and Kerry are amazing
mentors and have been instrumental in teaching us about
showing and breeding. We have met wonderful people
through showing that share our love for this
extraordinary breed.
Torrie and Macy are
the foundation for Tor-Mac but all of our dogs have
played an important role. Each is a loving member of
our family, raised in our home and stealing our covers
at night. We may not have many litters but when we do
each will be well planned with an emphasis on health,
longevity and bettering our breed according to AKC
standards. It will never be a focus on money making,
it’s a labor of love, and we wouldn’t have it any other
way.
All of our dogs are tested annually
for cardiomyopathy and hypothyroidism. When our dogs
reach two years of age, an echocardiogram is performed
to rule out AS/SAS. Dopplers are used as testing against
Aortic Valve Disease. All dogs before being used in our
breeding program are also tested for the gene causing
Degenerative Myelopathy as well as having a cheek swab
done testing for ARVC. These tests allow us to make the
best choices when breeding our dogs and to do our job of
bettering the breed.
We are members of both the
Middlesex Boxer Club and the Upstate New York Boxer
Club. Josh is currently the president of the UNYBC and
we are always available to provide others with knowledge
about the boxer breed or to welcome new members to the
club.
